If I could tell people one thing about Grenoble, France, it would be that this city offers more than you will expect. It is a center not just for science but also for the arts. The postcards don't do justice to the Isère River. The city center is small but the opportunities are basically endless. I believe Grenoble is a place where almost anybody could find a home and be happy; I know I definitely could.
Something to think about when traveling to Grenoble is the culture and attitude regarding smoking. It is very common in Grenoble, and it is impossible to go anywhere downtown without encountering people smoking. Also, the cars, motorcycles, and pedestrians are something to watch out for when traveling to Grenoble. Everybody truly shares the road here, which makes it dangerous at times. Keeping an eye out for traffic and being aware of the smoking culture are important when traveling to Grenoble, but don't be discouraged! Grenoble, on the whole, is very environmentally aware and drivers and pedestrians alike make the system work for them. Overall, Grenoble is a city that is truly alive and offers a world of possibilities for everybody in it.
