Best Day in Grenoble!

As it turned out, my host family has family from around the world that came to Grenoble for a reunion on Wednesday. In total, there were 25 family members from France, America, and Syria, who all came together for three days. This was such an amazing experience because I was able to meet so many new people and I was accepted as part of the family for the reunion. We went out to eat dinner while they were here and I sat at a table where French, Arabic, and English were all spoken. The mixing of cultures was so inspiring to see; it was really beautiful how people from opposite sides of the world can find common ground and become friends.

I went with the family to dinner, to a hike to the bastille, and to the city center to watch the France vs. Peru game in the world cup. I'm so grateful that I got to meet so many new people from all over and experience the wonders of Grenoble with them.

My best day, specifically, was the day I went out to dinner with the entire family. We dined at a very nice restaurant and stayed from 7:00 to 11:00. I loved how the dinner became a four hour event--we just talked for the majority of the time. Also, that night, there was a huge music festival going on in Grenoble. We were able to look out of the window of the restaurant and see dancing and singing everywhere. After dinner, we joined in on the music festival and sang along with a jazz band that was playing The Beatles' music in the middle of the street. Hundreds of total strangers were all singing and dancing together to music they all knew and this was a very special moment for me.

So far, I haven't had a worst day in Grenoble. Every day has been an adventure that I am enjoying and taking advantage of to the fullest. Not every day is the best day, but every day that I am appreciating this beautiful place is certainly a good day!
